Once again our mornings are starting with the site of school buses & lunch toting kids, while our night sky has the extra illumination of the U.S. Capitol dome signaling school and Congress are back in session.
We are in the back to school spirit too and have an improved schedule starting Tuesday, September 4. Some of the highlights include brand new classes like Yoga Meditation (Thursdays 6:15-7:30pm) & Yoga Challenge (Mondays 7:30-9:00pm). And by popular demand, we've added a weekday Yoga Core class (Thursdays 5-6pm). We've even added a FREE Community Class Sundays from 6-7pm.
In addition to new classes we are excited to bring two new (to CHY) teachers on board. Kate MacDonnell beautifully interweaves her study of Iyengar & Vinyasa yoga for an exceptional class. You can find her every Wednesday for Open Yoga from 9:00-10:15am & Gentle Yoga from 4:15-5:30pm. And many of you will recognize CHY student & teacher assistant Tricia Kull (featured in our pose of the month) as she now brings you her detailed knowledge of pose structure every Wednesday evening for Yoga Essentials from 7:45-9:00pm.
A few bonus tidbits to notice on the new schedule are the additions of more 60- & 75-minute classes, though we still retained plenty of your favorite 90-minute classes. And no worries, we simply changed the name of "Level 1 Yoga" to "Yoga Essentials" to more accurately reflect the foundational theme of the class.
Ready to plunge back into classes or really deepen your yoga practice? We encourage everyone to take advantage of our 10% off NEWTOCHY promotion when purchasing your next CHY class pass. We also encourage any student wanting to delve a little deeper to learn more about our upcoming 2013 Yoga Immersion & Yoga Teacher Training programs at CHY. This summer was our time to analyze, improve, practice and innovate. From studio renovations, a logo overhaul, increased schedule options, expanded staff (learn more about our new studio manager Ingrid), and more, we hope each enhancement makes it that much easier for you to join us for your favorite class and leave inspired in the present moment and beyond.
Ardha Chandrasana - Half Moon
Ardha chandrasana is a challenging standing pose in which you balance on one hand and one foot. I have found a sense of humor, motivation, and the ability to let go of the need to be perfect, which is so freeing. Falling out of poses is a lesson on your mat in how to respond when you fall out of balance in life – whether in a big or small way. Read More
